Accessibility
Accessibility statement
Everyone deserves a way to share and keep their family’s stories, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, captions, or other assistive technology. Afterlife Album is a small, veteran-owned business, and accessibility is part of how we build.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is an ongoing effort: we test the site regularly with automated tools and by hand, and we fix problems as we find them. We can’t promise that every page is perfect, so we welcome your help.
What we’ve done so far
- Text and buttons designed for strong color contrast
- A “Skip to main content” link and clear, visible keyboard focus
- Pages, forms, and buttons designed to work with a keyboard alone
- Form fields with labels, and errors announced to screen readers
- Pages that reflow on small screens and when zoomed to 200%
- Decorative artwork hidden from screen readers
- Reduced motion when your device asks for it
- A written story box beside every voice recording, and caption fields for photos and videos, so stories can be read as well as heard
Known limitations
- Photos, videos, and voice recordings are added by families. Their accessibility depends on the captions and written descriptions each family adds. We encourage adding a short description or transcript.
- Downloaded album PDFs include a title and language, but are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. The stories in the PDF are also available as text in your album.
- Some third-party pieces, such as payment pages, are provided by other companies.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on the site is hard to use, or you’d like information in another format, please let us know. We’ll do our best to help, and to fix the problem.
